October 2009 round-up 21st October 2009
October was a quiet month in the League for St Paul's Celtic, with only 4 games being played in Division 3 for the entire month. St Paul's unbeaten run in September see them still occupying top spot in the league standings. A 12-goal game saw Kismayo put 9 goals past London Galacticos to cut St Paul's advantage to only a single point.
Gazette Cup
There was disappointment for St Paul's in the Gazette Cup after going down to First Capital Connect 5-4 on penalties (0-0 ft). St Paul's Celtic's unbeaten run came to a stuttering stop against a side they had beaten more than comfortably only 14 days earlier. The starting line-up was unrecognisable from that which romped to a 6-2 victory in the league a fortnight ago, however a rack of injuries in the run up to the match saw no less than 9 players declared unfit or unavailable.
Redemption will be sought on the 4th November when the two sides meet again in the Ken Doherty Memorial Cup
September 2009 round-up 21st October 2009
An excellent display from the boys in September has placed St Paul's Celtic at the summit of the Division 3 ladder. A four game unbeaten run has seen St Paul's occupy first place in the League. A 4-2 victory over A.W.D.F Reds was a great start to the season for the lads and was a sign of godd things to come.
The next game saw the good form continue with a 2-0 victory over Bang. St Paul's next match against MTV saw a closer contest with both teams walking away with a point. MTV were impressive in their first two games with a healthy 10 goals scored in those two outings. St Paul's looked the most dangerous in front of goals and would rue a few misses, however still held onto their unbeaten start to the season.
The last game of the month saw St Paul's cement top spot on the league with a 6-2 victory over First Capital Connect. An impressive display from the lads saw an excellent end to the first month of competition.
